Longhorn and BUffalo skull artist - La Crosse, wi

Case Study

Wanderlust Skulls had outgrown its existing website and needed an online presence that better represented the quality, craftsmanship, and individuality of artist, Cassie Everson's, work. We built a new website to elevate the brand, create a better experience for potential customers, showcase the artwork more effectively, and provide a stronger foundation for selling ready-made pieces and custom commissions.

1. Brand & Visual Presentation
The website didn’t immediately communicate the quality, craftsmanship, or uniqueness of the artwork. The overall design didn’t feel as elevated or intentional as the work itself.
Site navigation made it harder for visitors to find and explore the different products available. Calls to action were not always clear about what visitors should do next. The overall customer journey had unnecessary friction.

2. User Experience & Navigation

The site didn’t clearly communicate the craftsmanship, creative process, or value behind each piece. The custom commission process was unclear and left potential customers with questions about how it worked. Important questions about sourcing, preparation, purchasing, shipping, and care weren’t being addressed clearly.
The site wasn’t structured with strong SEO foundations. Page structure, headings, image optimization, and other technical SEO elements weren’t being fully utilized. The existing site wasn’t doing enough to help potential customers discover Wanderlust Skulls through search.

2.  Information & Education

Wanderlust Skulls needed to serve two very different types of customers: someone ready to purchase an existing piece and someone interested in commissioning a completely custom work of art. We designed the site around these two paths, using clear calls to action, intentional page flow, product collections, and prominent links to guide visitors from discovery to action. Visitors can easily move from the Home page into Ready-Made artwork, Custom Commissions, or Contact, depending on what they’re looking for.

4. Sales Funnel

The previous site didn’t clearly explain how a custom skull commission worked or what a customer could expect from the process. We created a dedicated Custom Design experience that walks visitors through the process step-by-step—from connecting with Cassie, to selecting their skull and discussing their vision, to the design and creation of the finished piece. Clear calls to action throughout the page give interested clients an obvious next step.

3. Custom Commissions

Potential customers were left with questions about purchasing, sourcing, preparation, shipping, care, and the process behind the artwork. Rather than requiring visitors to search through social media or contact Cassie for basic information, we organized this content throughout the site using dedicated sections, supporting copy, FAQs, and clear navigation. This gives customers the information they need at the point in their journey when they need it.

Wanderlust Skulls needed a website that felt as elevated and intentional as the artwork itself. We created a more editorial, image-forward design with intentional typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy. Large-scale artwork photography became a central part of the experience, allowing the pieces to make an immediate visual impact while creating a more refined, high-end Western aesthetic.
